What is ShareLAN?

ShareLAN is a free, in-browser tool for sending files between devices on the same Wi-Fi.

On the same Wi-Fi

  1. Open ShareLAN on devices connected to the same Wi-Fi.
  2. Each device shows up here, labeled with its local IP.
  3. Tap a device or drag a file onto it, then choose the file.
  4. The file transfers directly; the receiver taps “Save file”.
📶

Local network only

  1. Both devices must be on the same local network — the same Wi-Fi, the same router over a LAN cable, or the same phone hotspot.
  2. Wi-Fi and LAN mix freely: a computer plugged in with an Ethernet cable can send to a phone on the Wi-Fi of that same router.
  3. Sending over the internet or mobile data is not supported — a device on a different network simply will not appear in the list.
  4. That is exactly the point: the file stays inside your own network and never touches a server.

Private & fast

  • Nothing is uploaded — files go straight between your devices.
  • No app, no sign-up, no size limit from a host.
  • Works between phones, tablets and computers.
